Paul Rudolph Townhouse
New York, New York
Set atop a traditional five story townhouse, this distinct penthouse was originally designed and built by the acclaimed American architect Paul Rudolph. Boldly modern, this series of gravity defying outdoor spaces are extensions of their adjacent modern interiors rendering extraordinary urban views.
After 3 decades of resisting seasonal and coastal elements, the stucco, stone and steel exterior was worn and weathered and in need of structural repairs. The mission was to analyze the conditions, trace the root causes back to the source, and devise a repair plan, including advanced preventative strategies for moisture management throughout.
The restoration, repairs and weatherproofing refinements were sensitive to Rudolph’s design and carefully focused on preserving the architectural character and original details.
